Defending champions Faith Ladies got off to a strong start in the Women’s Premier League Cup, securing a convincing 3-1 victory over Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Saturday.
The opening goal came from Zanira Abdul Razak in the 20th minute, following a tentative start by both teams.
Adwoa Donkor extended Faith Ladies’ lead in the 27th minute with a powerful 25-yard shot that beat goalkeeper Charlotte Adjei. Ampem Darkoa then managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from their captain, Jennifer Owusua, in the 31st minute.
Captain Lilian Goli added a third goal for Faith Ladies in the 34th minute with a well-placed shot after connecting with Adwoa Donkor’s excellent cross.
Despite both teams attempting to score in the second half, neither could add to their tally, resulting in Faith Ladies maintaining a 3-1 lead over the league champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
This victory boosts Faith Ladies’ chances of defending their title, and they are set to face Northern Ladies in their upcoming Group B match.
