Just a minute later, Obianuju Mary came close to equalizing, but her powerful strike hit the crossbar, much to the relief of the Army Ladies.
However, Beatrice Akwaboah surprised everyone with an unexpected shot that found the back of the net, leveling the score for Northern Ladies before halftime.
Both teams delivered strong performances in the second half, but it was Army Ladies who had the last word. Mariama Oforiwaa capitalized on a cross in the 79th minute to score her second goal of the game.
In the end, Army Ladies held on to secure a 2-1 victory, setting the stage for the second Group B match between league champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies and defending champions Faith Ladies, scheduled for 3:00 pm.
