Hasaacas Ladies climbed to the top of Group B by securing a hard-fought victory against their rivals, Berry Ladies, on Matchday 2 of the ongoing Women’s Premier Super Cup in Kyebi.
The first chance of the day fell to Berry Ladies’ Martha Appiah, but her lofted attempt missed just wide after being set up by Victoria Salifu.
After a series of close exchanges, the breakthrough finally came in the 48th minute when Fidous Yakubu worked her magic from the edge of the box to beat Berry Ladies’ goalkeeper, Grace Akrofi.
Ghanaian star Mukarama was fouled on the edge of the box inside the 48th minute, providing an advantage for Hasaacas Ladies, who capitalized on the opportunity and slotted home the opening goal.
Regina Donkor came close to equalizing for Berry Ladies but had her shot cleared off the goal line by Hasaacas goalkeeper Diana in the 88th minute.
Fidous Yakubu of Hasaacas Ladies was named the Player of the Match in recognition of her outstanding performance that secured victory for the former Premier League champions.
