Salifu Ibrahim and Linda Mtange scored late in the game on Saturday night to ensure Hearts of Oak sealed victory over King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The two teams met up on matchday 29 of the betPawa Ghana Premier League and looked certain to put behind their losses from the previous week’s game.
King Faisal looked ready to sit back and absorb the pressure from the Phobians and considered the counterattacking game but had little chances of their own in the opening half of the game.
Hearts on the other hand failed to take the opportunities that came their way with the encounter heading to the break with neither teams scoring a goal.
The Rainbow club changed after the break. Gideon Asante was replaced by Salifu Ibrahim. In the 55th minute, King Faisal proved vigilant to thwart a home team counterattack.
Hearts of Oak’s first goal was scored by substitute Salifu Ibrahim in the 89th minute, while Linda Mtange added the team’s second goal in stoppage time.
King Faisal is ranked eleventh with 36 points, while Accra Hearts of Oak are fourth with 45 points.
The club from Accra will play FC Samartex in their upcoming match, whereas King Faisal will take on Tamale City.
