Hearts of Oak bounced back to the winning column in their match against champions Medeama SC during match week eight at the Accra Sports Stadium on a Wednesday afternoon.
The Phobians had previously gone four games without a victory, with three draws and one loss, while Medeama had won three of their matches and suffered a single defeat.
Before the match, Hearts of Oak occupied the 16th position with six points, whereas Medeama was placed eighth in the standings.
Hamza Issah retained his spot in the starting lineup for the Accra-based club.
The home team took the lead with a 7th-minute own goal by Appiah Kubi. Hamza Issah extended Accra Hearts of Oak’s lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute.
Medeama SC mounted a comeback and pulled one back in the 21st minute through Godknows Dzakpasu. Hamza Issah completed his brace in the 34th minute, increasing the lead to 3-1.
In the 71st minute, a rapid counter-attack by the Phobians nearly added a fourth goal to the tally.
This victory moved Accra Hearts of Oak to the 12th position in the standings, while Medeama dropped to the 10th place.
