Legon Cities extended their winning streak on home turf in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Aduana Football Club at the El-Wak Stadium on Sunday.
The Royals wasted no time asserting their dominance, as they took the lead just 10 minutes into the highly anticipated match, courtesy of Nicholas Mensah. However, the visitors, Aduana Boys, managed to restore parity in the 24th minute, with Isaac Mintah finding the back of the net.
The first half of the game ended with both teams displaying exceptional skills, resulting in a 1-1 scoreline in Accra.
Nevertheless, in the 54th minute, Samuel Armah proved to be the hero, delivering the decisive blow with a well-converted penalty kick, securing a crucial victory for Legon Cities over the two-time Ghana Premier League champions.
This victory has propelled Legon Cities to the 3rd position in the domestic top-flight standings, amassing six points from a possible nine after three games into the season.
Legon Cities’ record for the 2023/24 season now stands at two wins and one defeat in their opening three games.
Conversely, Aduana FC finds themselves in the 11th position, having secured just three points from their first three fixtures, which includes their second defeat of the season.
