Samartex made a resounding comeback to the winning column as they triumphed over Bechem United with a commanding 4-1 victory in the third match week of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
This triumph has propelled Samartex to the second position on the league table, amassing six points, while Bechem United currently occupies the 16th spot with three points.
The match saw a quick start, with Augustine Okrah netting the opening goal for Bechem United, giving the visiting Hunters a 1-0 lead just 15 minutes into the game.
However, the momentum shifted 20 minutes later when Evans Osei Owusu confidently converted a penalty for FC Samartex, leveling the score at 1-1. This deadlock persisted as both teams entered the halftime break.
In the second half, former Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Keyekeh delivered a crucial goal for Samartex, allowing them to seize the lead five minutes after the hour mark.
Baba Hamadu Musa then came into the spotlight, scoring the first of his two goals in the 77th minute to further extend the home side’s lead.
Musa continued his impressive performance, adding another goal six minutes later, sealing the game with a 4-1 victory for the Timber Giants in Samreboi.
Samartex will face Nsoatreman as away guests in their next match on Sunday during match week three, while Bechem United is set to host Medeama on the same day.
