Berekum Chelsea began their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign with a victorious start as they overcame Bibiani Gold Stars.
The Bibires secured a 2-0 win at the Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon, with both goals coming in the second half, courtesy of Stephen Amankona.
The match witnessed an escalation in action during the latter part of the second half, as the first 70 minutes remained goalless.
Berekum Chelsea finally managed to break through Bibiani Gold Stars’ defense when Stephen Amankona scored with just 16 minutes left in the game.
The home side continued to press for a second goal, but Bibiani Gold Stars put up a strong defense until stoppage time.
In the fifth minute of added time, Berekum Chelsea found their second goal, once again courtesy of Stephen Amankona, who also scored the opening goal.
In the next round of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, the Bibires will travel to face Karela United on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Meanwhile, visiting Bibiani Gold Stars will host Kumasi Asante Kotoko on the same day.
