Nsoatreman celebrated their first-ever victory over regional rivals Bechem United with joy and merrymaking.
On the opening day of the Ghana Premier League in Nsoatre, Nsoatreman secured a 2-0 win over Bechem United.
New coach Maxwell Konadu had a single goal in mind upon joining the hosts before the game – a convincing victory.
New signing Abdul Manaf Umar, who recently joined Nsoatreman from Real Tamale United, opened the scoring with a spectacular goal. Umar skillfully dribbled past two defenders before placing his shot into the top right corner in the 28th minute.
After halftime, Nsoatreman missed several opportunities to extend their lead, giving Bechem United the confidence to try to get back into the game.
However, Nsoatreman sealed the 2-0 victory in the dying moments of the match with a penalty kick. Eric Osei Bonus calmly converted the penalty after the hosts were awarded a spot-kick, sending the visiting goalkeeper the wrong way.
Augustine Okrah had an opportunity to score a consolation goal for Bechem after coming off the bench, but he was unable to convert his chance.
