Medeama SC head coach, Augustine Evans Adotey is excited with his team’s commanding win over Accra Hearts of Oak to jump to the summit of the Ghana Premier League.
The Mauves and Yellows recorded an emphatic 1-5 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 21st May, 2023 in the match-week 31 tie.
Jonathan Sowah scored brace, with Derrick Fordjour, captain Kwesi Donsu and ex- Hearts of Oak conjurer Vincent Atinga all showing their class in the game.
The win has moved Medeama to the top of the league table with 53 points, just a point above former Champions Aduana Stars who before the game were leaders on the log.
Speaking after the game, the former Black Maidens gaffer lauded his players for their spirited performance and added he is super excited that, they are now on top of the league.
“I’m happy for the victory. Before this particular game, my expectation was to climb on top of the ladder and lol and behold my mission was fulfilled. At the end of the day, we won 5-1, I’m not particular about the scoreline but I’m happy we are up there and we are now occupying the spot.”
“Let me commend my players cos after taking a 3-1 lead, I even asked them to withdraw in defence so that even if we don’t score again, we maintain the lead.”
Medeama SC will next host relagation threatening side King Faisal in Tarkwa.
