Medeama SC’s promising defender, Nurudeen Abdulai, has received a last-minute call-up to join the Black Stars squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.
The fast-rising talent departed Ghana early on Tuesday to join the Black Stars’ preparations in Morocco, where the team has already begun gearing up for the scheduled matches later this month.
Abdulai earned his debut call-up last year during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
The 19-year-old has since continued to impress for the Yellow and Mauve, solidifying his place in the squad with stellar performances.
During the previous season, Abdulai demonstrated his prowess by netting three goals in 30 appearances for Medeama, earning accolades with four Man of the Match awards.
This season, he has continued to shine, featuring prominently in both league matches and the CAF Champions League campaign. With 12 league appearances and 7 in the Champions League, Abdulai has proven himself as a vital asset for the Tarkwa-based club.
As the Black Stars prepare to face Nigeria on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Grande Stade Marrakech, followed by a match against Uganda four days later at the same venue, Abdulai’s inclusion adds depth to the squad, offering coach Otto Addo more options and versatility in defense.
