Medeama SC left-back Abdul Fatawu Hamidu made his debut appearance for the Black Stars in an international friendly against Liberia on Tuesday afternoon.
Fatawu Hamidu received his first-ever starting position under Chris Hughton for the friendly against the Lone Stars of Liberia. This opportunity came as a result of a late call-up to the Black Stars due to the absence of Abdul Baba Rahman, who was sidelined due to injury.
The 24-year-old player had a full match experience as he played the entire duration of the game, contributing to the team’s 3-1 victory over Liberia.
After a goalless first half, Ernest Nuamah and Kudus Mohammed added their names to the scoresheet before substitute Jordan Ayew sealed the victory with the third goal for the Black Stars.
Liberia managed to score a consolation goal in the closing moments of the game through 17-year-old Divine Teah.
Fatawu Hamidu had joined Medeama SC on a free transfer after leaving Accra Lions in January 2023.
