Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has disclosed that the club has introduced a new height requirement for players aspiring to join their youth team.
This decision comes as the club works to rebuild its squad following the departure of over 20 players in a recent extensive roster overhaul.
Ogum explained that the club’s new recruitment policy emphasizes the importance of height as a key criterion. “We established a baseline requirement for height, deciding that every youth team player we recruit should be at least 1. 55 centimeters tall,” Ogum stated. “That should be the minimum height and entry requirement.”
He further elaborated on the process, saying, “Once we had these two basic criteria in place, we brought them in and screened them, which is why we were able to get these boys.”
Ogum is confident in the quality of the talent they have secured, noting, “Now, if you look at the quality we have, what you said is actually the fact. These boys are so good, so intelligent, with and without the ball.”
