The Ministry of Youth & Sports has, expressed its sadness at the sudden passing of Raphael Dwamena, the one-time Black Stars striker.
Raphael Dwamena, 28, collapsed on the field in the 23rd minute of the first half of the round 13 match between Egnatia and Partizani in the Kategoria Superiore. He suffered cardiac arrest and died on the way to Kavajë Hospital.
In a message posted on X, formerly Twitter page, the Ministry said,” The Ministry of Youth and Sports has learned with shock the death of Raphael Dwamena, a former player of the Black Stars. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and the football fraternity.
RIP Raphael”.
Raphael Dwamena played for Liefering, Austria Lustenau, Zurich, Levante, Zaragoza, Vejle BK, Blau-Weiss Linz, BSC Old Boys and Egnatia Rrogozhine.
He made a combined 166 appearances for these clubs and scored 77 goals.
He won 9 caps for the Black Stars and scored 2 goals.
