Misfiring Asamoah Boateng still trusted by Hearts of Oak’s hierarchy

Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, has expressed confidence in striker Asamoah Boateng Afriyie, who has faced a challenging start with the club.

Afriyie, 27, joined Hearts in the summer after an impressive season with Nations FC, where he scored between 12 and 15 goals. However, he has yet to score or assist in seven Ghana Premier League matches for Hearts this season.

Despite the slow start, Opare Addo believes Afriyie is making valuable contributions to the team. “Last season, he scored 12-15 goals for Nations FC, but we are not judging him on scoring alone. We should look at his contribution and impact on the team. If he is not scoring and his contribution is helping the progress of the team, we are happy,” he said.

Opare Addo remains optimistic that the striker will soon find his scoring touch, saying, “Despite providing support for the team to be moving forward, we are sure the goals will come. We only need to encourage him.”

Afriyie is expected to play a role in Hearts’ upcoming match against Medeama on Sunday evening at the TnA Stadium in Matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League. Hearts of Oak currently sit 11th in the standings, with 9 points out of a possible 24.
