Karela United head coach Jimmy Cobblah has commended Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara for his exceptional performance in their 1-0 loss to Kotoko at the Naa Salerigu Sports Centre.
The match marked the opening game of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season for both teams. Camara, who was standing in for regular goalkeeper and captain Frederick Asare—currently on national duty with the Black Stars—delivered a standout performance, making a series of crucial saves to deny Karela an equalizer.
Speaking to Max TV after the match, Cobblah acknowledged Camara’s pivotal role in Kotoko’s victory.
“Kotoko dominated the first half and got their goal, but in the second half, we were the better side. They defended very well, and unfortunately, luck was not on our side. In football, a bit of luck is always needed, and we missed out on that today. I have to congratulate Kotoko for their defensive effort, especially their goalkeeper. He truly won the game for them today,” Cobblah said.
Karela United will look to bounce back in their next fixture against Berekum Chelsea on September 15 in Berekum.
