West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus has ranked the FIFA World Cup as the pinnacle of football, placing it above all other competitions.
Having made his debut in the tournament during the 2022 edition in Qatar, Kudus left a strong impression despite Ghana’s early exit, scoring twice in three appearances and earning a man-of-the-match award.
Reflecting on his experience, Kudus shared his admiration for the tournament. “I think the World Cup is the best football tournament. The Champions League is up there, but the World Cup was just different in Qatar, my first time,” he told Rising Ballers. “My family flew all the way to support, so it was an amazing feeling.”
Although Ghana did not progress as far as he had hoped, the midfielder still cherished the opportunity to compete on football’s biggest stage. “We didn’t go as far as I would have loved us to go, but it was nice to experience the World Cup. To be part of it was great,” he added.
Now 24, Kudus is determined to help Ghana qualify for the 2026 World Cup, especially after the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
