Mohammed Kudus arrived in the Black Stars camp on Sunday but did not take part in the team’s first training session on Monday. Head coach Otto Addo granted him permission to sit out the session as the team began preparations for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars kicked off their training with just nine players, focusing on shooting, passing, and stretching exercises. Kudus’ absence was noticeable, but Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, clarified the situation.
“Mohammed Kudus arrived on Sunday. He was in camp, but the coach [Otto Addo] excused him from the first day’s training,” Asante Twum said on Sporty FM.
Now that the full squad is in camp, the focus will shift to tactical drills ahead of the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad on March 21 and Madagascar on March 24.
Kudus has endured a tough season at West Ham United, managing just three goals so far. His recent performances for Ghana have also been inconsistent, with his last appearance marked by a missed penalty against Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
