Asante Kotoko have booked their place in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after a narrow 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in a tense semifinal encounter at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday.
Both teams went into the break without a goal, having failed to make the most of the few chances created in the first half. However, Kotoko came out stronger in the second half and eventually broke the deadlock through Albert Amoah, whose calm finish made the difference.
The win is a major milestone for head coach Abdul Karim Zito, who is now one step away from claiming his first trophy with the Porcupine Warriors. His side’s well-structured and disciplined performance kept Chelsea at bay for the rest of the match.
Despite a determined effort, Berekum Chelsea—under the guidance of former Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu—couldn’t find a way back into the game, bringing their impressive cup run to an end.
Kotoko will now prepare to face Golden Kick, a lower-division side, in the final as they look to end their season on a high and secure a return to continental competition.
