Following a slow start, former King Faisal striker Kwame Peprah has hit a rich vein of form recently just before Christmas by scoring four goals in two games.
The Ghanaian International will be looked upon to provide the cutting edge again when Pirates resume duty next month after benefitting from the patience of the club’s technical team.
“The most important thing in this country is to take care of himself off the field,” advises fellow countryman Mumuni Abubaker in an interview featured in the latest edition of KICK OFF Magazine.
Abubaker has spent a decade in South Africa and so talks from experience having made his entrance through the glitz and glamour provided by Mamelodi Sundowns but now plays in the first division with Black Leopards.
“If I get a chance to talk to him the only thing that I would tell him is off the field matters. For him to stay long in the game in this country will depend on how he takes care of himself off the pitch because that is vital. I say this because the way of living here in South Africa is not the same as back home.
“When you come here and already start thinking like you are South African and be doing things the way they do here then automatically you have already failed.
“The reason why I’m not even bothering myself talking about his football is that he didn’t come here by fluke. He came here because of what he did in Ghana so automatically he is the one and must just continue from where he left off in Ghana. Why should he stop just because he is here now?
“He must continue working hard and remember that as a striker all that is wanted from him is goals. He mustn’t come here and start thinking of himself as being a playmaker. If off the field he is okay then the goals will come, and he will set this league on fire,” says Abubaker.
