Dutch international and Corinthians forward Memphis Depay has pledged his support to Asante Kotoko, urging the team to push for victory as they prepare for a crucial clash against Bibiani GoldStars in the Ghana Premier League.
Depay, who is in Ghana for the Christmas holidays, has already embarked on various activities, including charity events. On Thursday, he visited the Adako Jachie training grounds, where he interacted with the Kotoko squad during a training session ahead of their matchday 15 fixture.
In a video shared on Kotoko’s social media channels, the former Manchester United and Barcelona star was seen encouraging the players and expressing his newfound interest in the team’s progress.
“My eyes are now on the team. Now, I’m involved—let’s get to the next level,” Depay said. He also urged the players to secure maximum points in their upcoming game, emphasizing the importance of closing the gap in the league standings.
The Porcupine Warriors will host Bibiani GoldStars at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday in what promises to be an intense battle. Both teams are vying for crucial points to bolster their title ambitions.
Asante Kotoko currently sit 5th on the Ghana Premier League table with 24 points, while GoldStars hold 2nd place with 27 points. A win for Kotoko would not only strengthen their position but also serve as a significant morale boost in their title chase.
