Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, has urged Asante Kotoko players to secure a crucial victory against Bibiani GoldStars in their Ghana Premier League clash on Friday.
Depay, who currently plays for Brazilian giants Corinthians, is in Ghana for the Christmas holidays and is participating in various activities, including charity events. On Thursday, the former Manchester United and Barcelona forward visited Kotoko’s training grounds at Adako Jachie, where he motivated the team as they prepared for their crucial match.
In a rousing speech, Depay emphasized the importance of securing maximum points:
“You guys need the three points to catch up with other teams in the league. I wish you all the best in tomorrow’s game. My eyes are now on the team. Now, I’m involved—let’s get to the next level!”
Asante Kotoko, currently 5th on the league table with 24 points from 13 matches, will host 2nd-placed GoldStars, who have 27 points. The match promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams aim to boost their title challenge.
Scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Baba Yara Stadium, the game is expected to draw significant attention, fueled by Depay’s involvement and motivational words.
