Ghana defender Nathaniel Adjei delivered an impressive performance as FC Lorient opened their 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign with a goalless draw against OGC Nice at the Allianz Riviera.
The 23-year-old started at the centre of Lorient’s defence and played a key role as his side secured a valuable point away from home.
Adjei partnered Montassar Talbi in central defence and remained composed throughout the encounter, helping Lorient frustrate Nice and prevent the hosts from finding a breakthrough.
The Ghanaian was among Lorient’s best performers on the night, receiving a rating of 7.3. Only Arthur Avom, who earned a 7.5 rating, was rated higher among the Lorient players.
Adjei impressed with his composure on the ball while also showing strength and discipline in his defensive duties as Alexandre Dujeux’s team maintained a clean sheet.
The performance provides a positive start for Adjei, who will be looking to build momentum after last season was disrupted by a lengthy injury layoff.
The Ghanaian defender had previously expressed his determination to build on his performances after successfully working his way back into the Lorient first team.
His display against Nice suggests he could once again become an important figure in Lorient’s defence as the French league season progresses.
With the campaign now underway, Adjei will be aiming to maintain his consistency and establish himself as one of the club’s key defensive players.
