MTN FA Cup champions Nations FC will begin their maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Malian outfit FC Diarra in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 competition.
The draw marks a significant milestone for the Abrankese-based club, who will be making their first-ever appearance in a CAF inter-club competition after winning the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup to secure a place on the continental stage.
As debutants, Nations FC will be eager to announce themselves in African football with a strong showing against FC Diarra. Although they lack continental experience, the Ghanaian side has built a reputation as one of the country’s fastest-rising clubs, with impressive performances in domestic football culminating in their historic FA Cup triumph.
The tie offers Nations FC the opportunity to write a new chapter in the club’s history. Progressing past the preliminary round would be a remarkable achievement and provide valuable experience as they seek to establish themselves among Africa’s emerging clubs.
The first leg will be played away in Mali before Nations FC host the return fixture in Ghana, where they will hope to capitalize on home support in pursuit of a place in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
