Newcastle United desperate to land Antoine Semenyo

English Premier League side Newcastle United FC have reportedly shown interest in signing gha forward Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth.

Semenyo is having a season of his life at Bournemouth after a strong start to the season, bagging in three goals and one assist in his first seven Premier League appearances.

Due to his impressive form, the Ghana international has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Newcastle, Liverpool, and Tottenham according to concrete reports in England.

According to the reports, Newcastle have identified Semenyo as a key solution to their attacking needs and a possible replacement for Miguel Almirón, who is likely to depart in January. Almirón has drawn interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and MLS, which could open up space for Semenyo at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle previously attempted to sign Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga during the summer transfer window but were priced out of a move for the Swedish winger. With a right-sided attacker still a priority for manager Eddie Howe, Semenyo fits the profile of the type of player they are looking for. In addition to his ability to play on the right wing, Semenyo can also feature as a striker, a position where Newcastle currently have limited options.

While Bournemouth are aware of the growing interest in Semenyo, they are under no immediate pressure to sell, especially after the summer departure of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham. Reports suggest that any potential deal for Semenyo would require a significant offer, as he remains under contract with Bournemouth until 2029.

Newcastle are closely monitoring the 24-year-old and are considering a January bid to secure his services.

Semenyo is currently with the Ghana national team, preparing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. He played in the first leg against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium and is expected to start in the return leg on Tuesday.
