Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams has assured fans that his brother, Nico Williams, does not regret his decision to turn down Barcelona in favor of remaining with Athletic Club.

The Catalan giants pursued the young Spanish winger throughout the summer, but he ultimately opted to stay at Athletic, partly due to the club’s inability to activate his release clause.

Nico publicly dismissed the possibility of a move to Barcelona in the later stages of the transfer window, taking to social media to pledge another year of dynamic performances for Athletic Club supporters.

“Nico doesn’t regret his decision to stay at Athletic; he says it’s the best decision he’s made,” Inaki shared with Diario AS. “Nico is very happy in Bilbao, and I hope we can keep playing together for as long as possible.”

As a key player in Ernesto Valverde’s squad, Nico Williams will play a pivotal role in the team’s quest for success in the Europa League this season. However, there are uncertainties regarding his future beyond this season, as he has informed Athletic Club fans that he is committed to only one more year at the club.
