“I’m much more impressed with the recent performance of the Black Stars,” Vanderpuye said. “It’s possible for us to qualify for the World Cup.”
The Black Stars have made a strong start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, winning two games in the past week. They secured a hard-fought 2-1 win in Mali before returning to Ghana to host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Ghana emerged victorious with a 4-3 win, climbing to second place in Group I of the African qualifiers.
With 9 points, Ghana is now level with Comoros, who occupy the top spot in the group. Vanderpuye’s confidence in the team’s ability to qualify for the World Cup has been boosted by their recent performances, and he believes they have what it takes to make a deep run in the tournament.
