Ghana youth international Gideon Waja will not play League football this season following the withdrawal of Toronto FC II from the 2020 USL League One season.
The Canada-based club in an official statement have come out that because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the restrictions in place because of it, the club and league decided that they are not going to feature in the US third-tier league.
“As the only Canadian team in the league, clubs would have to – under the current measures in place – quarantine for 14 days every time they enter the country. That isn’t feasible and is likely a major factor in the decision.” part of the statement read.
Waja joined the second team of Toronto FC in February 2018 from Ghanaian outfit WAFA and made 35 appearances in all competitions last season providing one assist.
