Amos Frimpong, former captain of Asante Kotoko, has issued a challenge to the current generation of players in the team, urging them to secure at least one trophy for the club in the upcoming season.
During an appearance on Kessben TV’s Extra Time Sports show, the ex-defender emphasized that, in order to garner respect and admiration from the club’s supporters, the players must aim to win a significant title for Asante Kotoko.
Frimpong went on to encourage the players to aim even higher, suggesting that they strive to secure two trophies or, at the very least, a major championship by the conclusion of the upcoming season.
He conveyed his perspective by saying, “I don’t know their targets with which they come but Kotoko is a club that at the end of the season if you are not able to win a trophy, no one sees you”
“All I will tell them is that, they have to put it on their minds that, no matter how difficult the season is they should do well and at least win two or one major trophy so that the supporters and everyone will appreciate them” He said on Kessben TV
Under the leadership of the new technical team, headed by Prosper Ogum Narteh, Asante Kotoko is in the process of adding around 10 new players to the squad, following the release of approximately 11 players.
In the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko finished in fourth place. With the guidance of Coach Prosper Ogum Narteh, who led the team to secure their most recent Premier title during the 2021-22 season, the club is determined to recapture the championship from Medeama in the forthcoming season.
