Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare has expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season, labeling it “not a good season to write home about”.
In a post on his social media page, Asare acknowledged the need for improvement and thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout the campaign.
“Not a good season to write home about. Lessons learnt, more room for improvement. Thank you for the love and support.”
The Porcupine Warriors struggled to make an impact, ultimately finishing in sixth place and failing to secure any silverware.
As a result of the underwhelming campaign, the club has announced a significant squad overhaul, releasing 18 players and expecting two more to follow. Notable departures from the team include captain Danlad Ibrahim, Eric Zeze, and George Mfegue.
Asare, who played 18 games for the Porcupines and conceded 11 goals with 10 clean sheets, is no doubt disappointed with the team’s performance. His words serve as a reflection of the frustration and discontent within the squad.
The club’s dismal campaign has led to a major shake-up, with new faces expected to join the team in an effort to improve their fortunes next season.
