Huddersfield Town’s teenage attacking midfielder Cameron Ashia produced a memorable moment late in their 2–2 League One draw against Blackpool, heading home in the 88th minute to earn his side a crucial point.
The 19-year-old rose at the right time to meet a cross and guide the ball into the net, completing Huddersfield’s comeback after they had trailed by two goals earlier in the game. His late intervention ensured the hosts avoided defeat in a dramatic finish.
Beyond the importance of the result, the goal carried a deeply personal meaning for the youngster. Speaking after the match, Ashia revealed it was the first headed goal of his life — and one that finally fulfilled a long-standing promise.
“I’ve never scored a header in my life. But now that I’ve scored it, my dad can finally cut his dreads… he said that when I was 12, so I’ve been trying to score a header since then,” he said after the game.
Despite starting only two of his 14 appearances this season, Ashia is making a growing impact as a game-changer off the bench. His late equaliser takes his tally to three goals and two assists, highlighting his ability to influence matches in crucial moments.
