Kwame Baah Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), was forcibly ejected from his office at the Baba Yara Stadium by unidentified individuals on Thursday morning.
According to reports from Kumasi-based Luv FM, the assailants, allegedly affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stormed the NSA premises, locking up all offices except that of the NSA Administrator. They ordered Baah Mensah to vacate his office and hand over the keys to his official vehicle and office.
Police officers from the Asokwa Division, led by ASP Kofi Aboagye, intervened to restore calm and ensure the safe departure of the Regional Director.
The situation escalated when several NSA employees in the Ashanti Region expressed support for the attackers. Many staff members were seen cheering as their boss was forced out of the building.
Employees accused Baah Mensah of various offenses, including inappropriate promotions, victimization, fostering poor working relationships, engaging in corrupt practices, and failing to pay allowances for four months.
With police assistance, Baah Mensah packed his belongings into a waiting vehicle. The group of attackers, which had grown in number, eventually dispersed after discussions with the authorities.
In a dramatic twist, staff members even prevented Baah Mensah from leaving with bottled water, claiming it was purchased with NSA funds.
The embattled Regional Director was subjected to boos and insults from the staff as he was escorted into a private vehicle, which drove off to the apparent satisfaction of the gathered employees.
