Nsoatreman FC has been officially dissolved, with players instructed to leave following mounting criticism and backlash over the tragic incident that occurred during their Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.
The club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Gyempeh Kofi Joel, confirmed the shocking decision, citing relentless attacks on the club after the death of Asante Kotoko fan, Pooley, during their Matchday 19 fixture on February 2.
“The criticism and insults have been too much, so the team has been dissolved, and the players have been told to go home,” he told Sporty FM.
He further explained that the club has been unfairly blamed for the incident, despite police investigations identifying a certain Brimah as the alleged perpetrator.
“It’s like after the death, people started pointing fingers and attacking the club, claiming we were responsible, even though the police investigation has confirmed that a certain Brimah was the killer of the late Pooley,” he added.
Nsoatreman’s decision to dissolve comes just days after they withdrew from the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, citing security concerns. The club had also been banned from hosting home games at the Nana Kronmansah Park following the tragic event.
