Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has attributed the recent struggles of Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to ineffective leadership rather than a shortage of talent.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, the seasoned administrator and board member of Hearts of Oak argued that the root of the problem lies at the top, where poor decision-making and weak structures have undermined the clubs’ progress.
According to him, the dip in form experienced by both sides reflects deeper organisational challenges that continue to affect their ability to compete at the highest level, both domestically and in Africa.
Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, historically the most dominant clubs in Ghanaian football, have found it difficult to assert their authority in recent seasons. Their performances in the Ghana Premier League have been inconsistent, while their campaigns in continental competitions have often ended prematurely—far from the successes that once defined them on the African stage.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasised that meaningful recovery will depend on strong, transparent, and forward-thinking leadership. Without such reforms, he warned, attempts to return the clubs to their former glory are unlikely to yield lasting results.
