Asante Kotoko head coach Obeng Hamza Mohammed believes the result from his side’s latest match was unfair, insisting that his team deserved more despite being forced to settle for a point after Patrick Asiedu’s free-kick goal.
The Kotoko coach expressed his disappointment with the outcome, suggesting that his players had done enough to merit a better result. However, he acknowledged that avoiding defeat was still preferable to leaving the game without anything to show for their efforts.
“It’s not a fair result for us. We all knew Patrick Asiedu was going to score that free kick, but it’s better to take a point than lose the game,” Obeng Hamza Mohammed said.
His comments reflected the frustration within the Kotoko camp following a match in which the decisive moment came from Asiedu’s set-piece effort. The coach’s reference to the free kick indicated that his side was aware of the threat posed by the situation, making the outcome particularly disappointing for the technical team.
For Kotoko, the result means they must look at the positives from the game while also considering what could have been done differently to secure maximum points. In a competitive league campaign, dropped points can prove costly, especially for a side seeking consistency in its performances.
Despite questioning the fairness of the outcome, Obeng Hamza Mohammed recognised the importance of taking something from the encounter. His admission that a point was better than a defeat showed a willingness to accept the result, even as he maintained that his team deserved more.
Patrick Asiedu’s free kick ultimately became a key talking point, with the goal preventing Kotoko from getting the outcome their coach had hoped for.
The Porcupine Warriors will now have to turn their attention to their next assignment, with the technical team expected to work on improving the side’s performance and converting opportunities into victories.
