Ashantigold SC management has released a statement confirming their return to active football next season. Ghana’s 2023-24 season will end in June and the next (2024-25 season) will commence in September 2024.
The Obuasi-based club is ready to come back stronger, per the statement they have released.
“There are stages in the lifespan of every football club.
“There are periods where you will win laurels, get promoted, qualify for continental competitions and also face the better side of the game.
“We were unlucky to be at the receiving end of the bitter part of the game.
As Richard Branson once said, “Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again”.
“For the past few months, we have been in constant communication with the GFA to assist us in the pursuit in assisting us to regain our footballing status.
“We, therefore entreat all our loyal supporters to be patient and optimistic about our comeback to competitiveness in the 2024-25 season. “Thank you”.
Ashantigold SC has indeed seen it all in their existence. They are four times winners of the Ghana Premier League. Ashgold won the FA Cup in the 1992-93 season.
They lost on penalties against Raja Casablanca on penalties in the 1997 finals of the CAF Champions League. In 2022, they were demoted to the Division Two of Ghana’s football after match manipulation against Inter Allies.
The club has hinted at a return to competitive action.
