Leicester City has confirmed that Ghanaian international Daniel Amartey will be leaving the club after almost eight years of service.

In an official statement released by the former English Premier League champions on Monday, it was announced that the Black Stars center-back’s contract will expire at the end of June.

Amartey is one of seven senior professionals who will not be continuing their tenure with Leicester City beyond this month. The list includes Youri Tielemans, Çağlar Söyüncü, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez, and Tetê.

“Youri Tielemans, Çağlar Söyüncü, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez, and Tetê will all bring their spells at King Power Stadium to an end,” parts of the club statement said today.

Having joined Leicester City during the summer transfer window in 2016, the 28-year-old defender has been an integral part of the team for the past seven years.

However, his departure comes at the end of a challenging season for the club, which saw them being relegated from the English Premier League to the Championship.
