French Ligue 1 club FC Lorient has officially confirmed the loan acquisition of Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei from Swedish Allsvanskan side Hammarby IF.
The arrangement is set to transition into a permanent deal at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, as reported by various French media outlets.
In their statement, FC Lorient expressed delight in welcoming the 21-year-old central defender from Hammarby IF. Adjei, a former Danbort FC player, is known for his contributions to the Ghana Black Meteors.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Adjei conveyed his determination to make a significant impact in his debut season in the French top-flight: “It’s a great opportunity for me to sign for Merlus and to discover Ligue 1, a championship which has seen many Ghanaians play there. By joining FC Lorient, I am taking a step forward in my career. I will continue my progress and strengthen myself at the highest level through contact with my new teammates. The challenge that awaits us is important, but I will do everything to achieve the end-of-season objective.”
Adjei, assigned shirt Number 32, is scheduled for an official unveiling during today’s training session.
Despite his promising career, he is yet to earn an international cap with the men’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
