Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah is on the verge of having his contract terminated by Orlando Pirates due to his underwhelming loan spell at Maritzburg United.
After an impressive campaign in the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League with King Faisal FC, Peprah made the move to Orlando Pirates and quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team, featuring not only in the DStv Premiership but also contributing to their journey to the CAF Confederation Cup final.
In his debut season in the South African top-flight, Peprah’s performances earned him a nomination for the PSL Young Player of the Season award. He scored nine goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
However, the former captain of King Faisal faced difficulties in his second season at Orlando Pirates, experiencing limited playing time. His last league appearance for the club was in October 2022 against Kaizer Chiefs, and he managed just five appearances without finding the back of the net.
In search of more regular playing opportunities, Peprah was loaned out to Maritzburg United in the PSL. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned, as he only scored one goal in 18 appearances across all competitions.
During his time at King Faisal, Peprah showcased his talent by scoring an impressive 18 goals in all competitions during the 2021/22 season, attracting interest from both Orlando Pirates and Azam FC. Ultimately, Peprah decided to join Orlando Pirates after reaching a personal agreement.
Reports from South Africa suggest that Orlando Pirates is considering releasing Kwame Peprah. As a result, Peprah may now explore potential opportunities in the Tanzanian league, with Azam FC displaying renewed interest in the 23-year-old striker.
