LA Galaxy star Joseph Paintsil has addressed recent speculation about a supposed rift with Black Stars coach Otto Addo, clarifying that their relationship remains strong and positive.
The 26-year-old winger, who had a standout season with LA Galaxy, scoring 10 goals in the regular season and adding four more in the playoffs to help secure the MLS title, was notably omitted from Ghana’s 2022 World Cup squad without explanation. Since Addo’s return as coach, Paintsil has had limited playing time, totaling just eight minutes on the field, often due to a muscle injury or being left out of the squad altogether.
Despite rumors of a strained relationship, Paintsil firmly dismissed these claims in an exclusive interview with 3Sports, stating, “Otto Addo and I have a nice relationship, not as people think. Otto Addo texts me and asks how I am doing. I have no issues with him. I know he has no issues with me. We have a good relationship.”
Looking ahead, Paintsil is hopeful of returning to the squad for the next match in March 2025, eager to contribute once again to the Black Stars’ campaign.
