Dreams FC head coach Abdul Karim Zito has heaped praise on Black Stars coach Otto Addo, calling him a “tactical strategist” and commending his discipline and approach to management.
Addo, who previously worked as a talent development coach at Borussia Dortmund, was appointed as the Black Stars head coach with a 34-month contract, including an option for a two-year extension. Since taking the helm, he has overseen eight matches, securing three wins but still searching for his first victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Recently, Addo named a 25-man squad for Ghana’s crucial Group F matches against Angola and Niger, with three local players included.
Speaking highly of Addo, Zito said, “This coach you see, nobody can divert his course. You see him, I like him for one reason—he’s very disciplined and very tactical. What he wants to do, that’s what he does.”
Zito also emphasized the importance of providing local players the opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage: “I’m very happy with what he’s doing. If he gives them the opportunity, local players must perform well to earn more chances for other Africans.”
He acknowledged the challenges local players face in comparison to their European counterparts: “When you are in Europe, you see what Europeans are doing, and then you come to Africa—it will be very difficult for a local player to get in. It’s a fact, because local players have to do extra to make it.”
