Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has officially announced his squad for the crucial final rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where the team will face Angola and Niger.

With qualification hopes hanging in the balance, Addo has called up a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, aiming to secure the necessary wins to advance to the tournament in Morocco.

Goalkeepers

The Black Stars’ goalkeeping responsibilities will be handled by Lawrence Ati Zigi (St. Gallen), Abdul Nurudeen (KAS Eupen), and Joseph Wollacott (Hibernian), providing a solid and experienced line of defense.

Defenders

A strong defensive lineup includes Alidu Seidu (Clermont Foot), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton & Hove Albion), Jonas Adjetey, Nathaniel Adjei (Right to Dream), Alexander Djiku (Fenerbahce), Jerome Opoku (Istanbul Basaksehir), and Gideon Mensah (Auxerre), Razak Simpson of Nations FC. This backline is aimed at fortifying Ghana’s defense against Angola and Niger’s offensive threats.

Midfielders

The midfield is highlighted by star playmaker Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United), who will look to bring his creative prowess to Ghana’s attack. He is joined by Michael Baidoo, Elisha Owusu, Abu Francis, and Ibrahim Sulemana, each providing versatility and depth.

Forwards

The attack features seasoned forwards like Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) and Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao), as well as emerging stars Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Ernest Nuamah (Lyon), Issahaku Abdul Fatawu (Leicester City), and Joseph Paintsil (Genk). These players will be expected to lead the charge for goals in the upcoming must-win matches.

Upcoming Matches

The Black Stars will first face Angola on November 15 in Luanda, followed by a home fixture against Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Currently sitting third in Group F with two points from four matches, Ghana must win both games and hope for favorable results elsewhere in order to qualify for the AFCON tournament.

This squad announcement signifies Ghana’s all-out push for qualification as they seek redemption after a slow start in the qualifiers.
