Ahead of the highly anticipated match against Sudan, Ghana’s national team head coach, Otto Addo, expressed confidence in his squad’s potential to secure a much-needed victory in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
With the match set to kick off in Libya on Tuesday, October 15, Addo emphasized the importance of teamwork and tactical discipline.
“We have a good team structure, and we possess talented players individually. Now, it’s about putting all the pieces together,” Addo stated during a pre-match interview. He acknowledged that while the Black Stars have had commendable performances, inconsistencies are a part of football. “It’s normal to have bad games, but we must give that extra effort to win this match. This victory would reward the hard work the boys have put in,” he added.
Reflecting on the team’s recent performance, which included a goalless draw against Sudan in their last encounter, Addo is hopeful that the Black Stars can build on their last showing. “I’m very sure that if we win this game, there’s more to come. We can pick up from the last game and bring the same attitude, the same defensive discipline, but also the same offensive actions to create chances,” he said.
Addo is convinced that with the right mindset and tactical execution, the Black Stars can overcome Sudan’s defense. “If we do this consistently, we will break through Sudan’s wall and score. It’s about keeping the fire alive, believing in ourselves, and recognizing our strengths.”
The coach’s optimistic outlook is underscored by a sense of urgency as the team aims to keep their AFCON dream alive. “Once we integrate our tactical togetherness and understand our roles, we will fulfill our dream to win this game,” he concluded, rallying his players for the crucial encounter.
