As Ghana prepares for its crucial qualifier against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, head coach Otto Addo has expressed high expectations for his players, emphasizing the need for a collective response to recent performances.
In a candid assessment, Addo highlighted the potential within the squad and called for a unified effort to capitalize on their strengths.
“We have everything we need,” Addo stated, referring to the passion and commitment demonstrated in their previous matches. “The way we played, the chances we created, the corners we earned—all of this shows that we are on the right track. Now, the players must reward themselves for their performance and the hard work they’ve shown.”
Recognizing the importance of teamwork and individual accountability, Addo urged all players, whether starting or not, to elevate their game. “It’s needed now. Everybody needs to step up. All the players need to push each other, regardless of whether they’re on the pitch or on the bench. We need to believe in ourselves, trust each other, and make each of us stronger. Then, I think the goals will come by themselves.”
The Black Stars will take on Sudan in Libya on Tuesday, with the match set to kick off at 13:00 GMT. As pressure mounts, all eyes will be on Addo’s men to secure the much-needed three points and keep their AFCON dream alive.
