Otto Addo will begin his time as Ghana ahead coach tonight against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification play – offs.
It is a big opportunity to convince those who think he was not the right man to succeed Milovan Rajevac following the abject performance of the Black Stars at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
He will have Arsenal’s Thomas Partey to patrol the midfield but will be without skipper Andre Ayew who has scored 18 times for Al Sadd this season.

If one considers the opinion of many fans , former players and journalists , one thing is common : the player quality of the Super Eagles and this is where Addo must demonstrate that he is capable of achieving big results with an average quality squad.
“They have more quality players than us. That is the truth.” Agyemang-Badu said ahead of the game.
“They are better than us on paper. They have more quality but Ghana and Nigeria games go beyond form” Samuel Osei Kuffour said on Kessben FM.
Indeed the two games against Nigeria will largely determine whether the former Dortmund assistant manager will be a short term Ghana coach or for the long term and he definitely needs to convince the Ghana FA and the Ghanaians fans.
