Asante Kotoko’s owner and life financer, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to name a new Board of Directors before the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, according to reports from Nhyira FM.
Following the dissolution of the previous Board of Directors led by Dr. Kwame Kyei, Otumfuo named an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run the club. The IMC has been in charge of the team since the end of the 2022/23 season and has seen Asante Kotoko finish the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign at 6th position with 49 points.
The IMC consists of former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah, Prosper Ogum Narteh, who also doubles as the head coach of the side, Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as Administrative Manager, and Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah.
However, as a requirement by the Club Licensing Committee, an Interim Committee cannot run a club for more than a season. Therefore, Otumfuo is set to appoint a new Board of Directors to take over the reins.
The new Board will have no more than six members, and the Executive Board Chairman will act as the head of the Management Team, which is yet to be named. With the season set to kick off on September 6, Asante Kotoko will begin their 2024/25 campaign with an away game against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
