Performance of Ghanaian players in European competitions: Kudus bags hat-trick; Osman Ibrahim dazzles, Ibrahim Sadiq scores and assists, Amartey, Djiku shine

The 1st leg of the final qualifying round of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League were played across Europe from Tuesday to Thursday.

No Ghanaian player featured in the first leg of final qualifying round of the Champions League, while a lot featured in the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

MahamaShaibu.com brings you up to speed of how the Ghanaian players fared with their respective clubs in the two European competitions.

UEFA Europa League

Ibrahim Sadick scored and provided an assist for BK Hacken as they threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at home against Aberdeen.

Mohammed Kudus scored a hat-trick for Ajax in a 4-1 away win against Ludogorets, a game which could be his last for club. Bernard Tekpetey had a dreadful night for Ludogorets and was subbed off at 56 minutes.

Malik Abubakar played 88 minutes for Slovan Bratislava in a 2-1 win against Aris Limassol. Zuberu Sharani saw 12 minutes of action for Slovan Bratislava.

Razak Abalora didn’t make the match day squad for Sheriff Tiraspol in their 1-1 draw against Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag.

Samuel Owusu was an unused sub FK Cukaricki in their 3-1 defeat to Olympiacos.

Ibrahim Mustafa saw 53 minutes of action for LASK in a 2-1 home win against HŠK Zrinjski Mostar.

Europa Conference League

Kwabena Owusu came on in the final minutes for Ferencváros in their 4-0 away win against FK Zalgiris.

Ibrahim Osman played 80 minutes for Nordsjaelland and was influential in their 5-0 win against Partizan Belgrade.

Daniel Amartey played 90 minutes for Besiktas in a 3-2 victory against Dynamo Kiev.

Alexander Djiku as well lasted the entire duration for Fenerbahce in their 5-1 mauling of FC Twente.

Alfred Duncan came on in the 81st minute for Fiorentina in their shocking 1-0 away defeat to Rapid Wien.

Joseph Paintsil did not play for Genk in the 2-1 home win against Adana Demirspor. Christopher Baah came on in the 66th minute for Genk.

Dennis Odoi came on in the final minutes for Club Brugge in their 2-1 away win against Osasuna.

Baba Rahman did not feature for PAOK in their 2-1 comeback win against Hearts of Midlothian due to a suspension.
