Youngster Caleb Yirenkyi scored his first FIFA World Cup goal on Thursday to hand the Black Stars a 1-0 victory over Panama, as Ghana claimed their first three points of the 2026 tournament.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare who came on for Lawerence Ati-Zigi held firm to record a clean sheet, while Head Coach Carlos Queiroz’s touchline reactions captured the tension of the night, before players and staff celebrated a hard-fought win with the travelling fans.
“The feeling is great but I am still humble, want to do more for the team and the country,” Yirenkyi said after finishing a move he credited to weeks of preparation. “We run for each other, fight for each other, cover spaces for each other.”
