Ghanaian forward Tariqe Fosu Kumahl Malachi has been released by English Premier League club Brentford as his contract is set to expire at the end of June, ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Fosu joined Brentford from Oxford United in January 2020 and had a notable spell with the club, featuring in 63 matches and scoring five goals.
During Brentford’s successful promotion campaign in the 2020/21 season, the 27-year-old played a crucial role, appearing in 39 matches and contributing four goals and four assists.
One of his standout moments came when he scored the winning goal against AFC Bournemouth at the Gtech Community Stadium in late December.
Fosu’s impressive performances in January earned him a nomination for the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month award, as he found the net twice in three league matches.
He made his Premier League debut as a late substitute in a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in March 2022, gaining valuable experience in the top flight.
In the first half of the 2022/23 season, Fosu was loaned out to Sky Bet Championship side Stoke City. He later joined Rotherham United on loan in January, where he made 19 appearances and played a pivotal role in helping the Millers retain their status in the second tier.
