Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has disclosed that his animated celebrations during the victory over Hearts of Oak were planned ahead of time.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a dramatic 1-0 win against their archrivals on Sunday in a Matchday 13 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium. The decisive moment came in the 95th minute when Albert Amoah scored to send the Kotoko faithful into wild celebrations.
Following the goal, Dr. Ogum was seen removing his tie and waving it enthusiastically in front of the jubilant Kotoko supporters. Reflecting on the moment, he explained that the nature of the game and the timing of the goal added fuel to his premeditated celebration.
“The manner in which the goal came. I mean, look at the game we played, look at the chances we created,” Dr. Ogum said. “If I look at the way we played and the manner in which the game was going to end, I was telling myself, the game has not been fair to us.”
He continued: “The celebration was pre-determined. I had planned it in my mind at home that when we score, I will remove my tie and then go and say thank you to the fans.”
The victory lifts Asante Kotoko to sixth place on the league table with 21 points. They now turn their attention to their next match, an away fixture against Dreams FC at the Tuba AstroTurf in Matchday 14.
